Not only can the biodiesel be utilized as fuel on its own, it can be interfused with the standard diesel in any ratio. Biodiesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic, and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics.
Since biodiesel can readily be used in current diesel engines without having to modify them, it has the potential to supplement the use of petroleum-based fuels as a primary energy source to fill up the need of the world's transportation sector. Countries who are producing their own biofuel are also able to cut their importation of fuels and at the same time increase their agricultural and industrial sectors. Water accelerates microbe colonies which shorten the life cycle of the paper filter elements that result in premature failure of the fuel pump.
Raw vegetable oil cannot meet biodiesel fuel specifications, it is not registered with the EPA, and it is not a legal motor fuel. Making biodiesel is actually quite simple when you think about it. Because of this property it is easy to make biodiesel at home.
Clearly governments need to further embrace the concept of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Biodiesel is the best greenhouse gas mitigation strategy for today.
