There has been much talk of biofuels and in particular biodiesel being touted as a more carbon friendly alternative to traditional petroleum based fuel. Biodiesel such a great alternative to ordinary fuel.
With congressional leadership favoring the acceleration of greener energy in a way that clearly benefits their constituents and lobbyists, there undoubtedly will be winners and losers. Because it is also a naturally oxygenated fuel and contains very little sulfur and aromatics it is an extremely clean burning fuel. The first positive benefit for biodiesel is the fact that it can be made from renewable resources.
You can also use vegetable oil that has already been used. Some manufacturers provide vehicles pre-filled with biodiesel blends. You will need to check with the manufacturer of your engine to make sure that it will run on biodiesel with out any problems.
What should be the governments role be in promoting the use of biodiesel? We need to determine what the true balance is between good and bad from an environmental perspective.
